Lassi (pronounced [ləsːiː]) is a popular traditional dahi (yogurt)-based drink that originated in the Punjab region. Lassi is a blend of yogurt, water, spices and sometimes fruit.

Ingredients

  • 3 parts yoghurt to 1 part water
  • dry roast cumin seed or sugar
  • black pepper
  • salt

Directions

1Mix the yoghurt and water. For each 4 cups of yoghurt and water add ½ t. salt, ¼ t. black pepper and 1 t. roasted cumin seed. Mix well. Lassi can also be prepared by mixing yoghurt and water and adding 1/3 cup sugar for each 2 cups lassi. This is another delicious summer beverage.
